There are 13 parks in the Huron-Clinton Metropark system, of which we frequent 4. For a complete list, check the Metropark website. An annual pass for the park costs $40, and the daily fee is $10 per vehicle.
Indian Springs
5200 Indian Trail, White Lake (Oakland County)
This park has an Environmental Discovery Center and many miles of trails through prairies, woodlands, wetlands and meadows. There is also an 18-hole regulation golf course, a paved hike-bike trail, volleyball courts, horseback riding, picnicking, a splash pad, and playgrounds. In the winter there is cross-country skiing, sledding and much more. More details can be found on the park website.
Kensington
4570 Huron River Parkway, Milford (Oakland County)
Kensington Metropark offers 4,481 acres of wooded, hilly terrain surrounding beautiful Kent Lake. There are a multitude of recreational opportunities throughout the year, from biking and boating to cross-country skiing and ice fishing. You can take a swim at one of the beaches; get soaked at the Splash ‘n’ Blast; or just spend the day fishing, hiking or picnicking along the water. You can tour Kent Lake aboard the Island Queen ($6); play a round of golf; or spin through a game of disc golf. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, sledding, snow boarding, and ice skating. In warmer weather, you can launch your own water craft, or rent canoes, kayaks, row boats, and paddleboats. The park’s Farm Center allows you to meet farm animals and get a glimpse of rural life. Seasonal public programming is available year-round, including festivals, maple sugaring, sheep shearing and a you-pick pumpkin patch, some at additional cost. The Farm Center is home to a host of historic and educational experiences like the Kensington Living History Village, a restored 150-year-old-barn, Kid’s Cottage, stone labyrinth and much more. Lake St. Clair
31300 Metro Parkway, Harrison Township (Macomb County)
Formerly called Metropolitan Beach, this park offers many recreational activities. Whether it’s bird watching, windsurfing, kiteboarding, boating, bicycling or swimming, it’s all there on the shores of Lake St. Clair. You can bike, hike, jog or in-line skate on the paved trail or hop out on the water from the marina. For swimming, you can jump into the lake or the Olympic-sized swimming pool, featuring waterslides and a massive spray ground. There are 3 golf option: a Par 3 course, an Adventure golf course, and a foot golf course. Winter brings even more fun, with ice fishing, cross-country skiing and ice skating with friends and family. Stony Creek
4300 Main Park Road, Shelby Township (Macomb County)
At the heart of the park sits the 500-acre Stony Creek Lake, where boaters, anglers, and swimmers can spend time enjoying a day on the water. In the lush woodlands, gorgeous wetlands, tallgrass prairies, and expansive fields surrounding the lake, you will find paved and unpaved trails for hikers, cyclists, in-line skaters and wanderers. In winter, park transforms into a world of snowshoeing, fat tire mountain biking, cross-country skiing, other winter sports. Details can be found at the park website.
